New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday addressed a meeting of BJP national office bearers on Friday including senior party leaders such as national office bearers, state party chiefs, and organisational secretaries. At the event, PM Modi recalled the journey of Jan Sangh, the parent political outfit of the BJP, saying: “Our journey began from the Jan Sangh and flourished as the BJP, the party’s expansion is a matter of pride, but today I bow to all the personalities of the party who have invested themselves in its creation.”
“During Jan Sangh’s time, we were on the margins, nobody knew us. Despite that, our workers adhered to the policies of nation-building. We were miles away from attaining power but then also smallest of our workers remained patriotic,” he added, as quoted by news agency ANI.
The former Gujarat chief minister called for the party to set targets for the next 25 years as he said: “We are setting the aim for the next 25 years, it’s the time for the BJP to set the targets for the next 25 years along with consistently working for the people of India to fulfill their aspirations along with wading through all the challenges.”
PM Modi Targets Opposition Parties
He also hit out that opposition parties saying that some political parties keep looking for small incidents of tensions to inject poison into the nation for their selfish interests, PTI reported.
“Ecosystem of some parties trying hard to detract country from main issues but we don’t have to fall in their trap. Attempts will be made to deviate you from the country’s development issues but you have to stick to them,” PM Modi stressed as he virtually addressed the BJP meeting.
He further said that to save democracy, people have to make it value-based, “we have to continuously fight dynastic, family politics.”
“We have to stick to issues of development and national interest,” he added.
In an apparent reference to the longstanding debate over Hindi imposition, the Prime Minister also said: “In past few days, we have seen that attempts are being made to spark controversies on the basis of languages. BJP sees a reflection of Indian culture in every regional language and considers them worth worshipping. We have given importance to every regional language in NEP.”
PM Modi Lauds NDA’s Governance In 8 Years
Speaking about the BJP’s performance earlier, he mentioned that “the NDA government will be completing 8 years in power this month. These years have been that of serving the nation, working for the welfare of the poor and the middle class along with ensuring social justice and security and strengthening women’s empowerment.”
India is seen as a country filled with aspirations. Now, every citizen of India wants to see the work getting done along with witnessing the final outcome. In this backdrop, the responsibility of governments increase tremendously, the Prime Minister mentioned.
PM Modi asked BJP to launch campaign to ensure no poor, eligible beneficiary is left out of government’s welfare measures.
The meeting of the national office bearers of the BJP began on Thursday with the meeting of the national general secretaries.
The BJP meeting being held in Rajasthan’s Jaipur is presided over by party chief JP Nadda. Apart from focusing on organisational issues, preparations for the assembly elections to be held this year and next year will also be discussed here.
The strategies for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will also be discussed, sources told ANI.
