Earlier, he had tweeted, “Covovax (@Novavax) is now available for children in India. This is the only vaccine manufactured in India that is also sold in Europe and has an efficacy of > 90%. This is in line with Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision of providing yet another vaccine to protect our children.”
It is to be noted that the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) on Friday had approved Serum Institute of India’s Covid-19 vaccine Covovax for the 12-17 year age group, sources close to news agency IANS said.
India’s drug regulator, the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had approved the vaccine for the restricted use in emergency situations in adults on December 28 last year and in the 12-17 age group with certain conditions on March 9.
Covovax is the second Covid-19 vaccine manufactured by the SII, which makes the Covishield vaccine, the dose that is most widely used in the country.
